Dr Janet Scott joined the AMMA Council in 1996, and in 2005 became the AMMA Secretary. Janet has recently retired from the Army Reserve after nearly 40 years of service, including a variety of staff and command positions as well as operational service in Bougainville and East Timor.
She is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and currently works part-time in a busy clinic and in a teaching position at the University of Adelaide. She enjoys volunteering in Nepal, having been there on several occasions, and has a keen interest in risk management and medical ethics. Apart from serving on AMMA Council, she sits on several other professional committees involving indemnity and complaint resolution, including the SA Health Practitioners Tribunal. She enjoys long-distance walking, dressmaking and gardening in her spare time, when she gets some.
